HUMILITY

THE WORD THAT CAME FORTH DURING WORSHIP TODAY….

I WILL BE A FATHER TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS ME IN THAT CAPACITY. TO THOSE WHOSE ARMS ARE OPEN, I WANT TO GUIDE. I CAN ONLY GUIDE THE HUMBLE.

I thought that came to me after that was HUMILITY = SUBMISSION.
ANY resistance to the will of God in our life is a place of pride.
Find below my notes for today.

The biblical definition of humility is the quality of having a modest view of oneself, acknowledging dependence on God, and recognizing His sovereignty and greatness. It involves surrendering pride and self-centeredness in favor of honoring God and serving others selflessly. Humility is deeply tied to obedience, gratitude, and a willingness to submit to God’s will.

Key Scriptures on Humility:

  1. Philippians 2:3-4
"Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."

Humility here is seen as putting others first and rejecting selfishness.

  2. James 4:10
"Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you."

Humility involves trusting God's timing and His plan for lifting us up.

  3. Micah 6:8
"He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?"

Walking humbly with God means living in constant acknowledgment of His guidance and authority.

  4. 1 Peter 5:6-7
"Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you."

True humility involves trusting God completely and surrendering our worries to Him.

Practical Aspects of Humility:

  • Recognizing our limitations and our need for God's grace (Romans 12:3).

  • Serving others without expecting recognition or reward (Matthew 23:11-12).

  • Letting go of pride and self-promotion (Proverbs 16:18-19).

  • Being teachable and open to correction (Proverbs 11:2).

Humility is both an attitude and an action that reflects trust in God, respect for others, and a life lived for His glory rather than personal gain.
